I dropped average marginal gap from about 70 µm to about 35 µm by enabling pencil milling and reducing rest-material stepdown to 0.02 mm, but I still see fit drift when mixing 3Y and 5Y zirconia in one disc (Aidite shrink 1.245 vs 1.255); do you separate nests or adjust tool radius comp per material?
When I have to mix 3Y/5Y, I set the disc to 1.250 and in exocad lower the “extra cement gap at margin” by about 5–10 µm on the 5Y units to counter the extra shrink from “1.245 vs 1.255”; that brought my margins back to about 35–40 µm on a DWX‑53DC. Pencil milling and 0.02 mm rest stepdown are spot on; this tweak assumes your sinter profile is consistent — want to try 8 µm less on a couple 5Y crowns and see if the drift tightens up?
Mixing 3Y/5Y in one puck can feel like herding two shrink rates. In MillBox turn on the ‘part scale override’ and bump the 5Y units about +0.6–0.8% relative to a 1.245 baseline so you can keep one nest, and re‑zero the 0.6 mm ball ‘radius comp’ in VPanel before pencil passes — tiny wear there exaggerates the drift. Are you running both on the same sinter program, or does a dedicated 5Y cycle tighten it up?
