Tightening our case intake to cut remakes

We cut our remake rate from 6% to 2.8% after standardizing intake and moving shade verification to the 7:30 a.m. huddle, but I’m debating adding a hard stop for missing pre‑op photos in 3Shape. Has anyone enforced that gate without slowing the line, especially with zirconia cases tied to a 12‑hour sinter schedule?

We made the “hard stop for missing pre‑op photos” a speed bump, not a brick wall. In 3Shape Order Forms we marked photos as a Required Asset and blocked nesting if missing, but added a 15‑minute “Photo Waiver” bypass that pings the op for upload while the shade lead signs off, so zirconia still hits the sinter queue. If you’re worried about slowdown, put the check at nesting rather than intake; it cut our remakes without blowing the 12‑hour window.

Use a single-use override that timestamps misses and queues for the 7:30 huddle; cap overrides to protect ‘12‑hour sinter’…

We tied photo capture to the intake scan: when the Rx barcode is hit, a Stream Deck macro opens the 3Shape order, snaps a webcam shot, and saves caseID_preop.jpg to Attachments so nesting doesn’t wait; it added about 40 seconds and cut misses about 90%, but we had to train for glare and fogging. @jordan92 have you tried macros instead of overrides?

We gate the photo at label print — design can start, but no sticker/no tray until a pre‑op is saved; building on @harvey_t87, a cheap USB foot pedal triggers a fixed webcam to auto‑drop the file, so it adds about 2 seconds max; tiny caveat: use a matte card to kill glare. Would that keep your furnace queue on time?
