When teeth fate just won't cooperate

And ever had a crown that just refused to fit no matter what? I had one last week that was like a toddler refusing to wear shoes – no matter how much you force it, it’s just not happening! It ended up taking twice as long, but hey, at least I got in a good laugh with the dentist while we tried to convince it to behave.

Been there! It’s like they’re auditioning for a role they just won’t accept. I find that sometimes giving them a little more time to settle helps; patience really is key.

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌

Totally! Sometimes those crowns just need extra time to settle, but you gotta wonder if they have a mind of their own! :joy: Have you tried using a different adhesive?

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‌

Fitting dentures can be such a hassle! I usually take a few minutes to warm them in hot water before fitting; it really seems to help with comfort. Also, I’d suggest trying out a soft liner if you haven’t yet — makes a world of difference.

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌

, those stubborn crowns really know how to test our patience, don’t they? I had one take an hour last month, and it was like a wrestling match. I swear, maybe if I started adding some motivational speeches in there, they’d cooperate better! Do you think they’d respond to a little pep talk? :joy:.

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌

I’ve definitely had those unruly crowns! Sometimes warming them in the oven for a few minutes really helps to get that perfect fit — just like that hilarious toddler analogy. Ever try it that way, @chloe_b97?

It’s wild how those crowns can take forever! Have you tried using a little silicone spray? It sometimes makes a difference in fitting. :joy:.

I feel you on that stubborn crown! Last month, I had one that took an hour too, and just when I thought it was finally fitting, it decided to pop off like it had a mind of its own. @chloe_b97, have you ever tried adjusting the crown on a warmer day — sometimes it helps with the melting process, just like trying to reason with a toddler.

, I totally get that! I once had a crown take over an hour too, and it felt like it was testing my patience. Sometimes I’ve found that lightly adjusting the margin can make a world of difference.
